Aside from The Greatest Showman and Les Miserables, we all know Hugh Jackman for his iconic role as James “Logan” Howlett, or Wolverine, of the X-Men.

In fact, Jackman holds the Guinness World Record for the longest career as a live-action Marvel character!

But this week, some images of Jackman have gone viral – and not in a good way. Some Twitter users have pointed out just how dramatic his body transformation was when prepping for the role of Wolverine. So much so, in fact, that questions about steroid usage have surfaced…

Well, the rumours have gotten so rife, that Jackman has been forced to speak out, denying any steroid usage. He claims that although he does have to do intense work to get into Wolverine shape for the role, it’s not something he would consider taking the risk of using steroids for…

“No,” Jackman said when asked about steroid use on Sunday’s episode of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, as per Entertainment Weekly.

“I love my job, and I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way,” Jackman explained.

He also revealed the secrets behind his diet and fitness regimen to achieve that elusive Wolverine physique…

“I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world,” Jackman said. “Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

However, not all fans are totally convinced by Jackman’s explanation.

“Isn’t the ‘old school way’ using steroids?” One fan joked.

A second added: “It’s amazing how chicken, broccoli, and brown rice only manage to produce these results for member of the Screen Actor’s Guild.”

Another pointed out: “Got to realize that this was his job. He had the time to dedicate hours to training every day, the money to get a trainer, and probably paying someone to cook all of his meals for him. Still a lot of work, and not taking anything away from it, but it is obviously easier if you’re able to commit 100%.”

Nonetheless, in spite of his intense training regimen, it seems as though Jackman is really looking forward to playing Wolverine again in the upcoming Deadpool 3.

“There’s also a dynamic that I’ve never really got to do before as Wolverine and I just thought this is gonna be fun, something I’ve never done before,” Jackman told Wallace. “And I can’t wait.”
