Nicolas Cage ‘Heartbroken’ Over Ex-Wife Lisa Marie Presley’s Death

The news of Lisa Marie Presley’s tragic death has shocked the world. And now, her ex husband Nicolas Cage, has spoken out about the “devastating news.”

Nicolas Cage first met Lisa Marie Presley back in 2000, and the pair wed just 2 years later. Sadly, the union didn’t last long, and they split 2 months later. But the news of her death has clearly had a huge impact on him.

Lisa Marie Presley is the only daughter of iconic singer Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley. She was born on February 1, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, and has become an international star in her own right. The shared legacy between her parents has created a unique bond between Lisa Marie and her fans around the world.

Lisa’s debut album, To Whom It May Concern was a smashing success. Released in 2003, the record raced up to the fifth spot on the Billboard charts and earned her a gold certification. The album featured an eclectic mix of genres including R&B, pop, hip-hop, and soul.

Her music career, fashion sense, activism, and philanthropy have made Lisa Marie a beloved figure in pop culture, making the news of her passing even more devastating.

According to TMZ, Lisa was taken to the hospital after her housekeeper noticed that she was not responding. On seeing this, her former husband Danny Keogh quickly stepped in to give CPR until paramedics arrived and started their procedure. They also allegedly injected epinephrine once during the attempt of reviving her.

Shortly before her death, Priscilla took to Facebook to ask for prayers for her daughter’s recovery, she wrote: ” My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care.

“Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time. -Priscilla Presley”

Paramedics managed to find her pulse before she reached the hospital, where she was then put into an induced coma. But sadly, her condition worsened and she didn’t make it.

A representative told TMZ: “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love, and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

The news of her death has come as a huge shock to fans, as she only recently made an appearance at the Golden Globes, which she attended with her mother, Priscilla.

Lisa Marie could be seen alongside Elvis actor, Austin Butler, on the red carpet for the event, and Butler later shared some heartwarming words about the star in his acceptance speech.

Taking to the stage, Butler said he wanted to “thank the Presley family” for everything they’ve done for him while making the movie, adding: “Thank you, guys. Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”

His words have since been described as “extra powerful” following the devastating news of her death.

Fans are also discussing her final Instagram online, in which she shared how she was struggling with grief following the death of her son, Benjamin Presley Keough, who took his own life, aged 27, back in 2020.

Her final post was in honour of National Grief Awareness Day, in which she tried to comfort those who were also dealing with grief.

“Hi. In honor of it being National Grief Awareness Day, I wrote an essay about Grief which was posted today on PEOPLE,” she shared.

“I thought I’d post it here in the hopes that anyone who needs to hear all of this, it helps in some way.”

In the essay, Lisa wrote: “This is not a comfortable subject for anyone, and it is most unpopular to talk about, but if we’re going (to) make any progress on the subject, grief has to get talked about.

“Death is part of life whether we like it or not — and so is grieving,” she continued. “Grief does not stop or go away in any sense, a year, or years after the loss. Grief is something you will have to carry with you for the rest of your life, in spite of what certain people or our culture wants us to believe. You do not ‘get over it,’ you do not ‘move on,’ period.”

She added that: “finding others who have experienced a similar loss can be the only way to go. Support groups that have your specific kind of loss in common. I go to them, and I hold them for other bereaved parents at my home.

“Nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes away the pain, but finding support can sometimes help you feel a little bit less alone.”

Since the shocking news was released, Priscilla shared a tribute to her daughter, writing in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

“She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Priscilla wasn’t the only important person in Lisa’s life to share a tribute to the star, her ex-husband Nicolas Cage has also released a statement following her death.

Nicolas Cage first met Lisa Marie Presley during his marriage to Patricia Arquette. Despite being engaged to John Oszajca at the time, Presley and Cage began a romance that would eventually lead to their own nuptials. Though it was a tumultuous period for those involved, it ultimately resulted in marriage, although it only lasted 2 months.

Back in 2003, a year after their marriage and subsequent divorce, Cage opened up about meeting Lisa for the first time, revealing in an interview: “I walk into a party not knowing who I’m going to meet and there’s this beautiful girl standing in the middle of the living room wearing this short leather skirt and this fluffy jacket, and she looks up at me with these big, beautiful, soulful eyes, eyes that look like they have a sad story to tell, and I just went ‘Oh,’” Cage said.

After learning of her death, he told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement:  “This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken. I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin.”

Our thoughts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Lisa Marie Presley.
