People are now finally seeing the connection of why Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith named their children Willow and Jaden, and we can’t believe we didn’t clock it sooner.
The Smiths have been garnering more attention since the 94th Academy Awards ceremony when Will Smith won Best Actor, and also, more importantly, called out Chris Rock for his offensive joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair, landing one of the most famous slaps in TV history.
The pair have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and things reached boiling point at the 2022 Oscars ceremony on March 27. Will Smith made a bold move and slapped Rock, who was presenting the award for best documentary, following a tongue-in-cheek comment which was seemingly directed at Pinkett Smith’s alopecia-related hair loss.
Smith then stormed back to his seat and yelled out at the stage, “Keep my wife’s name out ya f***ing mouth.”
Following the incident, Jada Pinkett Smith opened up on her podcast The Red Table Talk, to share her thoughts.
Without the help of co-hosts Willow Smith and her mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris, Pinket Smith spoke directly to the camera and addressed the issue.
She said: “My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have the opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile,” she continued. Without mentioning Chris Rock specifically, she went on: “The state of the world today? We need ’em both.
“And we all actually need on another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last twenty-eight years: And that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together.”
And while that whole event was the only thing the internet was caught up on for months, recently, Twitter has been totally distracted by something else entirely…
Internet users had their minds blown when a Twitter user revealed the reason why Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith named their kids Willow and Jaden. The explanation was certainly unexpected but entirely logical when you think about it.
On an earlier Twitter post by a user named Shek, it was highlighted how Will and Jada’s names were incorporated into their children’s names. The post was later removed, but not before other users took to the comment section to share their shock at the revelation.
One user wrote: “I was today years old when I realized jaden and willow smith’s names are just their parents names in different forms???? Goodbye.”
“I feel so dumb for just realizing that willow and jaden smith’s names are just variations of their parent’s names,” another commented.
While a third said: “Please I’ve just realised after your tweettt omg. I thought they were just random names.”
However, others were more shocked that this wasn’t common knowledge, with one Tweeting: “Someone on TikTok just said ‘has anyone noticed how Jaden & Willow Smith’s names are extensions of Jada & Will’s?’ and like… yes is that not something every single person in the world knows.”
