Jonah Hill’s latest movie exploring mental health, where he takes a deep dive into his own personal struggles, has become a huge hit with fans.

Hill is the author and director of the film Stutz, which he shares is about “a patient creating a film about his psychiatrist.”

In order to safeguard his mental health, Hill previously disclosed that he wouldn’t be advertising his movies, so it’s understandable why the movie hasn’t received as much buzz as it deserves.

The news comes after he deleted his Instagram account back in August earlier last year after he revealed that he has battled anxiety attacks for decades, which is something he talks about in the documentary.

In the new Netflix documentary, Hill get’s candid about his struggles with his psychiatrist Dr Phil Stutz, and together the pair begin a wholesome and informative discussion on mental health and how it’s so important to talk through your emotions.

This isn’t the first time Hill has opened up. Speaking to Deadline, he revealed that he often struggles with anxiety attacks, which he’s had on and off “for nearly twenty years, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events.”

He added: “With this letter and with Stutz, I’m hoping to make it more normal for people to talk and act on this stuff.

“So they can take steps towards feeling better and so that the people in their lives might understand their issues more clearly.”

The show has received incredible praise from both fans and critics, bagging a whopping 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

When it came out, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the film, with one saying it was “the best thing this year.”

Another user commented: “Jonah Hill’s Stutz on Netflix is extraordinary, and I’m not seeing enough people talk about it. If you’re even remotely interested in mental health, therapy or even just biographies of interesting people, you should absolutely watch it.”

A third added: “As someone who is a lover of actionable therapy, I cannot recommend the Stutz documentary enough. Had me choked up for the entire 90 minutes.”

Someone else said: “My life hack for today: Please watch this movie. It will make you grateful, touched, inspired, grounded, and show you that the sun is always there, above the skies.”

Critics have also shared their love of the film, with many highlighting how incredible it was to see the actor so vulnerable.

Nick Allen, from RobertEbert.com, wrote: “Jonah Hill’s gently powerful documentary Stutz is a personal project about someone else’s work.”

While Rodrigo Perez wrote for The Playlist, “This pandemic-shot doc about his road to healing is about as raw, candid, and poignantly soul-bearing as you could hope for.”
