Ezra Miller won many fans hearts for their portrayal of The Flash in the DC cinematic universe, however their controversial behaviour in recent years has led to many changing their minds.

And there is one actor that people are convinced would make the perfect replacement – none other than The Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page.

Now, it is fair to say that DC Studios as a whole has gone through a fair amount of flux over the past few months. Since James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-CEOs and co-chairmen of the studio back in October 2022, the whole franchise has been uprooted.

It began with the news that Henry Cavill would no longer return to his role as Superman, despite announcing that he was set to do so. In his statement, he said:

“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.

“The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

Then came the news that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was no longer set to return to the helm of the Black Adam franchise. The star revealed that “Black Adam will not be in [Gunn’s] first chapter of storytelling.”

He added: “After fifteen years of relentless hard work to finally make Black Adam, I’m very proud of the film we delivered for fans worldwide.”

Despite these huge losses for the DC universe, Gunn recently confirmed that he still plans to move forward with The Flash, whether that be with or without Miller.

Per IGN, when asked about the Fantastic Beasts star, Gunn replied: “Let’s see what happens.”

“Listen, Ezra is fully committed to their recovery right now, and we talk to them,” he continued. “We’re in constant contact, but when the time is right, we’ll have the conversation with them and decide what’s best for both them personally and also for us.”

The thirty-year-old has faced many concerning accusations over the past year. Per The Cut, these include multiple occurrences of assault and violence, harassment, manipulation and grooming.

In August, the actor shared a statement with Variety that confirmed they were entering treatment for “complex mental health issues.”

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” they shared.

“I want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

It is as a result of these concerning stories that have led fans to deduce that Elliot Page would make the perfect replacement to Miller’s Barry Allen.

One fan wrote: “I think it would be an incredibly inspiring image for the trans community if Elliot Page got cast as The Flash.

“He’s a great actor, and has a knack for playing quick witted characters. His build doesn’t matter imo. We can have a tiny Flash.”

Regardless of what fans want, viewers can expect to see Miller in the role for at least one more flick, as the feature-length film The Flash is set to hit cinemas in June later this year.
