Sam Smith Harassed By Woman On Street Calling Them ‘Demonic’ And ‘Evil’

A video has gone viral on social media showing a public incident, in which a woman could be heard hurling abuse at Sam Smith, referring to the singer as “demonic” and “evil.”

As many fans will already know, Smith uses they/them pronouns and came out as non-binary back in 2019.

Smith shockingly admitted to having encountered harassment and abuse after coming out.  Opening up to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, they shared that there haven’t been any problems when it comes to their personal life, but the general public hasn’t been as supportive.

They explained: “I think all the only negatives in the struggle have been in my public life and my job. And just the amount of hate and s***tness that came my way was just exhausting.

“It was in the f***ing news. Someone spat at me in the street. It’s crazy. What I find hard about it is it’s like, if that’s happening to me and I’m famous, I’m a pop star, can you imagine what other kids, like queer kids are feeling?

“And it’s just so sad that we’re in 2023 and it’s still happening. It’s exhausting and especially in England.”

But despite all the hate, Smith admitted that they feel a sense of relief that they can finally embody who they feel they’ve “always been.”

“My love life has become better from it. I feel lovable. I feel comfortable in my skin, but I wear what I want to wear.”

“Since changing my pronouns, it felt like a coming home. I wish I knew what the words were when I was in school because I would’ve identified as that in school,” they said. “Because it is who I am and it’s who I’ve always been.”

Sam Smith’s music video for their new track, I’m Not Here To Make Friends, the latest single from Smith’s album, Gloria was released recently.

In the video, Smith can be seen dancing suggestively while wearing what some have deemed “over-s**ualized” outfits, such as suspenders and n****e tassels.

Now, not everyone is impressed with Smith’s latest track, especially after they performed at the grammy, after which many called the singer “evil,” with some even going as far as to say it was “literally a tribute to satan.” Yikes!

In a momentous Grammys performance for the LGBTQ+ community, Smith and Petras were awarded Best Pop Duo. Petras was the first transgender woman to receive the honour.

But that didn’t stop people from hurling abuse, and it doesn’t just stop online, Smith was recently harassed on the street by a woman calling them a “demonic, twisted, sick *******,” telling the star they should be in  “hell.”

The shocking video of Smith being harassed while walking in New York started to become viral on social media this week.

After watching the shocking clip, one Twitter user wrote: “If anyone is demonic I’m going with that husky-throated thing yelling.”

Another commented: “People are really just too comfortable being hateful.”

A third added: “Now be so serious. No one deserves this kind of treatment no matter how much u dislike them.”
