Richard Gere Rushed To Hospital While On Holiday In Mexico

Richard Gere has been rushed to hospital in Mexico after he caught a case of pneumonia while on holiday.

Per TMZ, the seventy-three-year-old actor is set to be doing okay, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gere is on holiday in the South American country, near Nuevo Vallarta, to celebrate his wife Alejandra Silva’s fortieth birthday. The pair married 5 years ago back in 2018, and have 2 children together.

Silva shared a snap of her with these 2 kids on the beach in Mexico just 3 days ago, where she thanked fans for their birthday wishes.

TMZ learned that things on the trip went south when Gere began to develop a bad cough, which got so bad that he had to check himself into a hospital. He was then reportedly diagnosed with pneumonia and had to stay overnight in order to be treated.

However, he was out by the next day, and has been given antibiotics to keep the illness under control.

Silva has since shared a post addressing the reports.

“I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and worry messages, he is recovering,” she wrote. “He is felling much better today! The worst has already pass! Thank you all for you sweet messages we really appreciate them!”

Gere is without a doubt one of the biggest names in Hollywood. Since he starred in 1980’s American G*gilo, the Pennsylvania native has been a mainstay of our screens.

Following on from this debut as a leading man, Gere went on to star in smash hits such as Pretty Woman, An Officer and a Gentleman and Chicago.

Having won People‘s Sexiest Man Alive in both 1999 and 1993 (alongside his wife at the time, supermodel Cindy Crawford), it’s no surprise that Gere has had his fair share of romantic entanglements. Women who he has been linked to include Barbara Streisand, Kim Basinger and even Priscilla Presley.

However, since marrying Spanish publicist Silva back in 2018, the actor has been off the market. The pair had reportedly known each other for a decade prior to their relationship.

“Our karma was attracted the moment we saw each other,” she said, per People. “I’m not ignoring our age difference and what it means to be with a Hollywood star, but when there’s such a strong karmic energy, the problems disappear.”

Silva shared much of the couple’s married life over on her Instagram, including family snaps from all sorts of holidays as well as celebrating professional events.
