Amanda Bynes Has Been Placed In Psychiatric Facility After Episode

Amanda Bynes has been sent to a mental health facility after reportedly having a “psychotic episode,” just months after her conservatorship ended.

Bynes was placed under the conservatorship back in 2013 after the actress displayed bizarre behavior on multiple occasions…

TMZ reported that Bynes soaked her dog in petrol while setting her neighbour’s driveway on fire. Then came the store surveillance videos that revealed she was struggling with her mental health.

Bynes’ mother, Lynn Bynes, was given temporary conservatorship over her daughter in August of that same year. Lynn then regained the conservatorship of the actress in October 2014 and has been her conservator ever since.

Bynes has been staying out of the public eye and pursuing other interests outside of acting over the last few years. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in California, while also undergoing treatment for her mental health.

Bynes’ conservatorship had been on-going for almost 9 years, and late last year, it was reportedly further extended.

The former child star underwent a status hearing in her current case with the judge scheduling the next conservatorship hearing for 2023. The conservatorship needed its next update by January 2023, according to legal documents.

However, Bynes’s lawyer David Esquibias said in a statement that her conservatorship being extended to 2023 was false.

“Her conservatorship is not extended through March 2023. It is open day-to-day,” he said.

“A status report regarding her health and welfare was recently filed and approved by the court.

“By law, the next status report is due in 2 years. Her conservatorship will terminate when it is no longer convenient for Amanda.”

But, Bynes then filed court documents to end her conservatorship. Page Six reported that Bynes filed court documents to end her conservatorship on Wednesday, February 23.

Submitted at the Ventura County Superior Court in California, the documents requested to terminate both the conservatorship of her person and estate.

Speaking with E! News, Lynn’s attorney Tamar Arminak said Lynn is “so incredibly proud” of Bynes’ progress.

“Lynn is so incredibly proud of the progress Amanda has made over the last few years and is so excited about the next chapter in Amanda’s life.”

“Based on the petition, and Amanda’s amazing progress, she completely supports Amanda’s request to terminate the conservatorship.”

And earlier this year, the moment we’d all been waiting for, Bynes conservatorship was terminated.

Since Bynes decided that she wanted to end the conservatorship, she has been living in an apartment community, which has been helping her transition back into an “autonomous” lifestyle.

A case manager also confirmed that she has had no positive tests for illicit substances, too, as per the media outlet.

A source close to the star happily said: “Once the conservatorship is terminated, she’ll be able to get married, live wherever she likes, and travel freely wherever she wants to go, among other things,” as per E! News.

“Nobody is really sure right now what’s next for her.

“But whatever it is, Amanda’s mom knows that based on the reports they’ve gotten, Amanda is determined, successful, and able to manage her day-to-day life and well-being,” they said.

Bynes then spoke out to People, she said: “Following today’s decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time.”

“I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.”

“In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter. I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can.”

Following this, her first public appearance since the conservatorship ended was then confirmed.

Bynes was set to join Lori Beth Denberg, Danny Tamberelli, and Kel Mitchell at 90’s Con.

“I’m really excited to reunite with my cast mates and meet the fans at ’90s Con,” the 36-year-old star told PEOPLE.

Sadly, she regrettably canceled the occasion, with Kel Mitchell sharing that he was “praying” for her.

It has since been reported by TMZ that Bynes had a “psychotic episode,” with the outlet announcing that she has been placed in a psych ward.

As per TMZ, they said: “An eyewitness tells us … Bynes was seen walking near downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning without any clothes. We’re told Bynes waved a car down, telling the driver she was coming down from a psychotic episode. Amanda herself then called 911.

“Our law enforcement sources say Bynes was taken to a nearby police station, where a mental health team determined she needed to be placed on a 5150 psych hold.”
