Amazon Prime Fans Blast New Series Swarm For ‘Dirty And Unnecessary’ Graphic Scene

In the horror series Swarm, there is a fairly explicit scene that has offended a handful of Amazon Prime viewers who have deemed it ‘dirty and unnecessary’.

Swarm made its Amazon Prime Video premiere on March 17, 2023. Critics gave it favorable reviews, praising the script, director, photography, music, and harmony between its vibrant, brilliant aesthetic and its psychological thriller components. Public appreciation has been lavished on Chloe Bailey and Billie Eilish’s guest appearances as well as Fishback’s performance in the season.

The show was created by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, and centers on Dre, a young woman who becomes fixated with a pop star (whose body of work and look are strikingly similar to that of American singer Beyoncé) and whose fan following is referred to as “The Swarm” (Beyoncé’s fan base is also referred to as the “Bey Hive”). The program is an in-depth examination of Dre’s life and fandom, revealing the dark, surprising places it leads her.

But it was the character Rory that really got people talking recently. Rory, the renowned brother of Macauley Culkin, is seen in a recent episode of the program baring it all, private parts included, and it’s understandably left viewers shocked.

In the show, Rory meets Dre at a nightclub and invites her back to his place, but It was the morning after scene that caused a lot of mixed reactions online.

“No way they had Rory Culkin in this show just to show his cawk and dip?!” one wrote.

While another said: “Now why did I have to see Rory Culkin’s d*** in Swarm just now?”

Another groaned: “Rory Culkin going viral for a d*** scene in Swarm and not for his amazing acting in anything else makes me ill…

“I hate that THAT scene is what’s gonna introduce a lot of people to Rory… I hate the internet.”

However, some loved the raunchy scene, with one writing: “I wouldn’t be put off by Rory Culkin’s squashed, flaccid p**is but maybe I’m built different IDK.”

Others gushed about the whole series: “This was pretty incredible. I watched it in one sitting and instantly got it. It’s like the darkest of dark comedies. Dark commentary? Possibly a new category altogether. But it was great, fresh, well-acted, well-directed, cool, and very weird. Dominique Fishback really gave a tour de force performance, not many emotions or situations she DIDN’T tackle, and it was spellbinding to watch every incarnation. Crazy good performance by Billie Eilish too. Who wouldn’t stay in the cult of Billie?? Lol But anyway what a series, after this I’m COMPLETELY stoked to see Donald Glover write and direct a weird a** horror movie, we need it,” another said.

It clearly left an impact on some, with one fan writing: “Donald Glover just gets it. The dude is literally a master of entertainment and a visionary with an undeniable reverence for film-making. A true savant of the arts, if you will. He continuously draws the viewer into what feels like an all-immersive experience however frightening or foreign that environment may feel. “Swarm” was every bit as terrifying as its predecessors in the landscape of high-brow violent psychological thrillers like “American Psycho” or “Fatal Attraction.”
