Amy Schumer Forced To Change Her Son’s Name After Realising It Sounded Very Rude

Naming your baby is always a big deal, but when it came to Amy Schumer’s son, it seems a massive blunder was made.

Now, the comedian has revealed that she has changed her son’s name after realizing it sounded like a certain medical term.

Schumer was born June 1, 1981, in New York City. The star began testing the waters with stand-up comedy in the mid-’00s.

Although her first national exposure didn’t come until 2007 when she placed fourth on NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

Amy released her debut stand-up album, Cutting before drawing more attention for her The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. But it was her first comedy special, titled Mostly S*x Stuff, that truly propelled her into comedy stardom.

Then In 2013, the cable network aired Inside Amy Schumer – which became one of the most talked-about shows in comedy. The hit series won its first Emmy in 2015 for “Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.”

You’ve also probably all heard of the movie Trainwreck. Well, the 2015 rom-com chronicles the story of a young magazine writer who is made to believe that relationships and marriages hold no value. In this, she helped shed the archaic Hollywood bias that female comics are best suited for character roles.

Amy has been praised for going where few comics dare to go, touching on topics like s*x, relationships, and gender inequality.

Since the success of Trainwreck, Amy hasn’t been short of other praise-worthy ventures.

In 2016, the star released her memoir, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, which earned a spot on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Amy also starred in the 2018 comedy I Feel Pretty, opposite Michelle Williams.

But away from the Hollywood spotlight, in August 2015, she teamed up with Senator Schumer to push for new gun control legislation on Capitol Hill.

The issue became personal for Amy after a mentally ill gunman killed 2 people and injured 9 others at a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theatre that was showing Trainwreck.

“I’ve thought about these victims each day since the tragedy,” Schumer said. [The shooter] shouldn’t have been able to put his hand on a gun in the first place,” the star said, according to Biography.

When it comes to her dating life she was in a relationship with furniture designer Ben Hanisch in May 2017 before splitting and later dating chef, Chris Fischer.

The pair announced they were expecting their first child on October 22, 2018, and in 2019, they welcomed him into the world. But it seems they had a change of heart when it came to the name they chose.

They gave their newborn the name Gene Attell Fischer, paying homage to their comedic buddy Dave Attell with his middle name.

It seems Schumer and her husband appear to have been oblivious to how it sounded at first.

Speaking on her podcast Three Girls, One Keith, she said: “Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name, is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer.

“It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son ‘genital’.”

she added: “My mum pointed that out to me, actually.

“My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital’, and she was right.”

Despite the change, his middle name David still honours their friend.
