Lizzo Hits Back At Trolls As She Brands Herself The ‘Beauty Standard’

Lizzo is known for clapping back at her haters, and she’s done it yet once again as she hit back at trolls mocking her weight, and branded herself the beauty standard.

Now, Lizzo is an American singer, rapper, and flutist who has risen to international fame with her infectious personality, powerful voice, and body-positive message.

Born Melissa Viviane Jefferson in Detroit, Michigan, in 1988, Lizzo began her music career in 2013 with the release of her debut album, titled Lizzobangers. Since then, she has released 3 more albums, including the critically acclaimed Cuz I Love You in 2019, which features her hit single ‘Truth Hurts.’

The ‘Special’ songstress serves as an inspiration to many because she is unapologetically herself, celebrating her body and promoting self-love through her music and public persona.

She often speaks out about body positivity, encouraging her fans to love themselves as they are and challenging societal norms about beauty and body size. Lizzo also uses her platform to promote mental health awareness, advocating for therapy and self-care as crucial tools for personal growth and happiness.

Aside from her positive message, Lizzo’s music is also celebrated for its catchy beats and infectious energy.

Her style blends elements of pop, hip-hop, and R&B, and her lyrics often touch on themes of empowerment, self-confidence, and self-acceptance. The star has also been praised for her skill as a flutist, showcasing her talent in live performances and on her albums.

Despite the star’s totally positive output, Lizzo does still fall victim to negativity and fat shamers.

“Obesity is on the rise, and yet women are told by celebrities and the media that being obese is normal and ‘healthy’. You never see them try this with men. Only women are insecure enough to fall for it,” ‘trainer and health coach’ Gina Bontempo shared alongside a picture of Lizzo sipping tea, per UNILAD.

Candace Owens, a conservative political commentator, also joined the conversation, adding:”Only women could be fooled into supporting a death cult of ‘fat acceptance’. Today’s cultural battles prove that women are more irrational and emotional than men.”

However, Lizzo hit back at these criticisms in the perfect way, sharing a video of herself in nothing but a grey robe, captioned: “I’m sorry that my perfect face and rockin body offends you… I can’t help that I’m God’s favourite.”

In it, she said: “I just finished showering and doing my little routine and, you know what I realised? I am f***ing gorgeous. I am the beauty standard.”

Fans reached out in support of the star in the comments section.

One wrote: “Keep up the body positivity!! You are legit gorgeous and have the most beautiful skin I have ever seen. Your face glows without makeup, it’s miraculous!! Your positivity will always win against their negativity.”

While another said: “Every time I see you I say, ‘Jesus, she’s beautiful.’”

A third joked: “Even your phone fell got for you 😍😩.”
