Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence Following Medical Emergency

Although Jamie Foxx continues to struggle with health concerns that required hospitalisation, he recently shared that he feels “blessed” to be alive.

The actor broke his silence on social media after being admitted to the hospital on April 11 over a ‘medical complication’. He has taken to Instagram to give an update on his condition.

Fifty-five-year-old Foxx is best known for his work in movies such as Django Unchained, Dreamgirls and Collateral. He first broke out in Hollywood with his leading role as Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic Ray, for which he won an Academy Award.

In more recent years, the actor has turned his skill set towards the behind the scenes film work. He worked as writer and producer for the recent series Alert, as well as Dad Stop Embarrassing Me.

His daughter Corinne Foxx announced the news of his hospitalisation over on Instagram.

She wrote: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.

“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Foxx has 2 daughters, with Corinne, who shared the news, being the eldest, born in 1994. She is an actress in her own right, having starred in Dollface and Safety.

Foxx also has another daughter who was born in 2009.

Fans have taken to social media to share their heartbreak at the news.

One wrote: “Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne reveals Jamie experienced a medical complication yesterday but is already recovering. Let’s keep him in our prayers.”

Another said: “Wishing Jamie Foxx a speedy recovery. Sending peace and light.”

While a third wrote: “Prayers to Jamie Foxx, one of the greatest talents to this day! Get well soon.”

Almost a week after he was rushed to hospital, the actor was still being evaluated at a hospital in Georgia, according to a report from People.

Foxx became unwell while filming in Atlanta for the upcoming Netflix film Back in Action with Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.

An insider told CNN: “They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened.”

There is currently no information on when he will be allowed to leave the hospital or resume filming, despite the fact that his condition is apparently improving.

However, the star’s friend Nick Cannon shared an update on the star’s condition last week.

“Man, I’m praying,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

“You see, I posted on Instagram. I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother.

“I know he’s doing so much better because I’m actually about to do something special for him, and do him a favour.”

He continued: “I can’t really say what it is, but it’ll be out there soon.

“I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing. He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it.

“That’s family right there.”

And now, Foxx has spoken out for the first time on social media.

“Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” Foxx wrote on Wednesday.

In addition, he expressed his gratitude to Nick Cannon, who stepped in to host his show “Beat Shazam” while he’s been away.

“Appreciate ya my boy @NickCannon,” he wrote in his stories, adding: “See u all soon.”
