Ray Liotta’s Cause Of Death Has Finally Been Confirmed A Year After His Passing

ay Liotta’s cause of death has finally been confirmed, almost a year after the star’s passing.

It was announced on May 26 last year that the star had passed away during his sleep in the Dominican Republic at the age of sixty-seven.

He was reportedly in the country to film Dangerous Waters, a thriller directed by John Barr, set to star Eric Dane, Saffron Burrows and Odeya Rush.

At the time of his death, Liotta was engaged to Jacy Nittolo.

She paid tribute to her late partner in a post on Instagram: “My life these past couple of years have been nothing but truly magical.

“Ray and I share a deep love that I will cherish in my heart forever. We laughed daily and we were inseparable. The chemistry was wild in the best way.

“He was everything in the world to me and we couldn’t get enough of each other. The kind of real love that one dreams of.”

Following his passing, Liotta was posthumously recognised by the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year, where his daughter Karsen collected the recognition on his behalf.

Liotta was best known for his work in hit movies such as Narc, Something Wild and Field of Dreams.

However, there is one role in Liotta’s filmography that stood apart from the rest. His portrayal of the mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 movie Goodfellas turned out to be one of the star’s defining roles.

Later on in his career, the New Jersey native starred in 2019’s Marriage Story as well as Elizabeth Banks’ C**aine Bear, which was released following his death.

However, nearly a year after the star’s death, his cause of death has been confirmed.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Liotta died as a result of heart and respiratory system issues.

The documents cited respiratory insufficiency, pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) and acute heart failure as his cause of death. Documents also reveal that the star was suffering with atherosclerosis at the time of his passing.

Rest in peace, Ray Liotta.
