Jennifer Lawrence has said that filming with Leonardo DiCaprio And Timothée Chalamet was an ‘abosolute misery’.
The Silver Linings Playbook star made the comments in relation to their work on the 2021 flick Don’t Look Up.
The movie came out in December 2021, and it was instantly a huge hit. It has a star-studded cast, featuring the likes of DiCaprio, Lawrence, and Chalamet alongside other big names Rob Morgan, Chris Evans, and Jonah Hill. It even stars Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep, so it was bound to be a smash.
The movie is about 2 astronomers (DiCaprio and Lawrence) who are attempting to warn the world about a comet hurtling towards Earth that will completely destroy the planet.
But, the issue is, nobody will take them seriously.
The official synopsis reads: “Two astronomers go on a media tour to warn humankind of a planet-killing comet hurtling toward Earth.
“The response from a distracted world: Meh.”
The movie was so good that it even broke Netflix’s viewership records. So whether people like it or not, the movie has received a jaw-dropping amount of views since its release.
According to Deadline, people spent a whopping 152,290,000 hours worldwide watching the show, and that was only between December 27 and January 2, making it a record-breaking amount of hours for the streaming service.
Clearly shocked by the news, director Adam McKay tweeted at the time: “I’m straight up flabbergasted by this.”
Slowly the hype around the film began to die down, and it’s now been over a year since it came out. But now, Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Kate Dibiasky, has now spoken out about what it was like working on set with so much incredible talent.
It turns out she had a lot to say about Hill’s character, Jason Orlean, admitting he was “the worst.” She shared that it was hard not to “ruin” every scene with him in it, but it’s not for the reason you might think.
The actress spilled all to Vanity Fair, saying: “It was really, really hard filming with Jonah, and just not ruining take after take, laughing. We one time dedicated an entire day to him just improv-ing insults at me. It was amazing.”
Despite the fact that the entire ensemble participated, the star said that many of Hill’s lines were spontaneous and that she believes Hill and Streep were the only ones who “should do that type of improv.”
“I mean, he’s [Hill’s] a master, he’s a comedic master. I mean we all did some [improv] just not as well as Jonah,” Lawrence added.
And Hill wasn’t the only co-star that Lawrence had things to say about…
She ripped into DiCaprio and Chalamet too, saying they left her in ‘absolute misery’ on one occasion!
“They drove me crazy that day. I don’t know what it was,” she told The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, via UNILAD.
“Timothée was just excited to be out of the house, I think it was his first scene. And Leo had picked the song that was playing in the car and was just like, ‘You know, this song is about blah, blah, blah.’”
She maintained that both actors are ‘very nice’, but concluded that on this one occasion, something was up!
“I don’t know. I just remember being in absolute misery that day,”she said.
