Jeremy Renner Shares Brutal Message Paul Rudd Sent Him After Accident

Jeremy Renner has revealed the brutal message that fellow Marvel star Paul Rudd sent to him after he was involved in a snow plough accident.

It comes after Renner spoke out in his first interview following his accident, revealing that he was “awake through every moment” of the horrific incident.

It occurred while the Hawkeye actor was trying to clear the road outside his home on New Year’s Day, and he was severely injured as a result of the baltic conditions.

According to his publicist, Samantha Mast, Renner was attempting to clear the road outside his home in Nevada following a snowstorm, when he suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries involving the snow plough he was using.

TMZ obtained the 911 call log, which revealed further details of what exactly happened at Renner’s home.

They report shared that the actor could be heard moaning in pain in the background of the call, and that he had “extreme difficulty” breathing.

It also states that the right-hand side of his chest had collapsed, and that his upper torso had been “completely crushed” by the machinery.

Renner was then airlifted to the hospital where he underwent surgery for his extensive injuries.

A source told RadarOnline in the aftermath of the accident: “It’s much worse than anyone knows. Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there. The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office also released a report detailing what actually happened that day, and it turns out, Renner is a hero…

“The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” the report stated as per CNN.

“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

Luckily, his nephew wasn’t injured, and was able to help Renner until emergency services arrived.

The star opened up about the accident for the first time during his interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC News.

“I’d do it again, ‘cause [the snowplough] was going right at my nephew,” the actor shared.

“I see him in a pool of blood coming from his head,” his nephew shared. “I ran up to him. I didn’t think he was alive.”

The Sawyer read off a list of his injuries: “8 ribs broken in fourteen places. Right knee, right ankle broken, left leg tibia broken, left ankle broken, right clavicle broken, right shoulder broken. Face, eye socket, jaw, mandible broken. Lung collapsed. Pierced from the rib bone, your liver – which sounds terrifying.”

Renner said he questioned what the outcome of all these injuries would be: “What’s my body going to look like? Am I just going to be a spine and a brain, like a science experiment?”

“I heard that you had, in sign language, you said to your family, ‘I’m sorry,’” Sawyer said, to which Renner began to tear up.

“I chose to survive. That’s not gonna kill me, no way,” he says later. “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refuelled and refilled with love and titanium,” the actor shared.

Despite Renner’s horrific injuries, his Hollywood friends didn’t hold back in their messages of so-called sympathy.

Paul Rudd even went so far as to make his own video to look like it came from Cameo, which is a website where fans can pay celebrities for personalised video messages.

“He made a fake one like I paid him money for a Cameo,” Renner explained.

“Hey Jerry,” Rudd begins in the clip, per UNILAD. “I hear you’re a little banged up. Got in a fight with a snowblower apparently? Anyway, I just wanted to send this video.”

He continued: “I hope you’re feeling better. Sounds like you are ― apparently you’re a pretty tough guy. Maybe I’ll get to meet you someday. Wouldn’t that be something. In the meantime take care and take it easy for a while.”

“Maybe next time just let the snow melt,” Rudd brutally concluded.
