Passenger Goes Viral For Trying To Figure Out Who Mystery Celebrity On Her Plane Was
Most of us will have stories of experiences with fame – whether that be spying someone from X Factor in the airport, or spotting a soap star down your local supermarket. However, it’s rare that one comes across someone who is evidently famous, but you have absolutely no idea who they are!
Well, one plane passenger has gone viral for sharing a video in which this exact scenario occurs. The video, shared by _paigecraig, amassed over thirty million views by people trying to figure out who the mystery man was.
Paige herself is an influencer in her own right, with over 1 million followers on TikTok.
The short clip pans from her face looking confused towards a man sitting over the aisle from her.
“Can someone tell me who this man is because people keep taking pics with him and I’m too scared to ask him who he is,” read the text over the video.
In the video’s caption, the TikToker added more information: “Other information- he speaks Spanish and is a very nice man. Thank you for your service.”
The TikTok was just 8 seconds long, but quickly went viral as viewers tried to figure out for themselves exactly who they mystery celeb was.
The comments section is filled with over forty thousand comments from viewers in the know filling in Paige on just exactly who the mystery celebrity is.
Turns out, it’s Eugenio Derbez, a Mexican actor who clearly has quite a huge reputation!
The sixty-one-year-old is a legend of Latin cinema, having starred in movies such as Overboard, Instructions Not Included, How To Be A Latin Lover and CODA. He also, as lots of commenters pointed out as one of his finest roles, voiced Donkey in the Spanish version of Shrek.
One commenter even called him “the Mexican Adam Sandler,” while another said he “is like the Mexican Jim Carey.”
A third encouraged Paige to catch up on Derbez’s movies: “Girl, watch instructions not included! This movie will have you crying.”
A fourth added: “I knew even before you showed him. He’s a HUGE star in Latin America. He’s the Beyonce of TV.”
While a fifth even tagged the star himself: “@eugenioderbezoficial 😂😂😂 he’s probably cracking up, that’s how humble he is!!”
In a follow-up post, Paige wrote: “Sat next to this guy on the airplane and people kept asking him for pictures. I did the only logical thing and asked TikTok assuming he would never know I did this.”
She then stitched the video to a clip of Derbez responding to her TikTok!
“Hi Paige, let me introduce myself. My name is Eugenio Derbez and I’m basically an actor and director,” he said on his Instagram story, before showing a reel of best bits from his movies.
“Now,” he said. “Can someone tell me who this girl is?” Derbez concluded the clip. “Because people keep following her, she has more than one million followers on TikTok.”
