Dolly Parton Takes Off Wig And Reveals What Her Natural Hair Looks Like

Dolly Parton has left fans gobsmacked after she took off her wig and revealed what her natural hair looks like for the first time.

Now, Dolly Parton is an absolute icon. From her legendary songs to her generous philanthropy, Dolly certainly has made this world a whole lot better during her time in it.

Born back in 1946 in Tennessee, Dolly was one of twelve children who lived in a one-bedroom cabin in the state’s Great Smoky Mountains region. From a young age it was clear that Dolly had a talent for music, and she began performing when she was still a child. The day after she graduated high school, Dolly moved to Nashville, where her dreams of becoming a musician were about to become a reality.

For a time, Dolly worked mainly as a songwriter, but slowly she found more and more success as a solo artist. Songs such as ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ made Dolly a mainstay of country music, and not before long she found that she made the transition over to pop.

From there, she was unstoppable, and eventually developed into the cultural icon that she is today.

However, one thing that has always baffled fans is what the star looks like underneath it all. Dolly is known for her highly preened image, having made no secret of her use of plastic surgery and wigs. Recently, though, fans were fascinated when Dolly revealed what is actually going on underneath it all.

In her book Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, the star explains why she makes such great use of wigs.

“I always wore my hair all teased up. Whenever that style started, I was the first to get my hair all poofy. Then as soon as I could buy those hairpieces and wigs, I wanted them,” she wrote.

Explaining why she used them so often, she said: “For one thing they were so handy.

“Plus my hair would never do exactly what I wanted it to. So the wigs became kind of my trademark.”

In a throwback photo in Songteller, the star shared a snap of what her real hair looked like, confirming in the caption: “In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s my real hair.”

She shared the same photo on her Instagram earlier on, and you can check it out for yourself here.
