TikTok Is Terrified Over This Test To See If You Have Submechanophobia

TikTok has been going mental in the last few weeks over this terrifying test to see if you have submechanophobia.

If you’ve never heard of this fear before, don’t worry for you are not alone. TikTok user @br1ghtfacts recently brought the phobia to the surface, as they shared a video ‘testing’ viewers to see if they had it themselves.

Now, submechanophobia is the fear of submerged man-made objects. Everything from shipwrecks, buoys, statues and even old buildings qualify under the definition.

The TikTok @br1ghtfacts posted explained the test in the caption: “Submechanophobia is a fear of submerged human-made objects, either partially or entirely underwater. These objects could be shipwrecks, statues, animatronics as seen in theme parks, or old buildings, but also more mundane items such as buoys and miscellaneous debris.”

Although this fear might sound rather mundane, try watching the video for yourself and you might be surprised by quite how spooky it is.

With pictures ranging from flooded mineshafts to boat propellors and even just a submerged crocodile statue, there is a whole range of snaps to test your scare levels.

The viral video has racked up over 2.5 million views, and people have taken to the comments section to share their thoughts.

“I have submechanophobia and this made me cry,” one person wrote after watching the video.

Another commented: “My cousin scream so loud when she saw the second one.”

A third said: “I am absolutely terrified of the undersides of ships and the propellers.”

A fourth shared: “I threw my phone and broke it on the second one.”
