The new host for Wheel Of Fortune has finally been revealed, but the internet has a lot to say about it.
It comes after Pat Sajak announced his retirement after over forty years at the show’s helm.
“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” Seacrest wrote in a statement.
“I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented forty years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.
“Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”
He continued: “Many people probably don’t know this but one of my first jobs was hosting a little game show called Click for Merv Griffin twenty-five years ago so this is truly a full circle moment for me and I’m grateful to Sony for the opportunity.
“I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”
Following the news, however, everyone was saying the same thing about Seacrest’s appointment to the show, in that they would have much preferred an unknown face to take on the role.
“I love you in all of your other platforms, however, you should have turned it down and given someone else a chance. Someone else needs the money way more than you do,” one person wrote.
Another said: “Seriously?! Does Ryan have to do every show? We couldn’t try to find someone new and exciting? I’m sure there’s a lot of talented, new people that could have been used. I definitely won’t be watching.”
A third wrote: “A lot of people are gonna disagree with me here and that’s ok. But I kinda wish they’d give some unknown person a chance at hosting instead of people who are already In the industry. Like some random fresh face. Just my opinion lol.”
