Madonna shared an ominous social media post before she was rushed to the ICU after being found unresponsive in NYC.
The news comes just weeks before the star was set to embark on her eighty-four date ‘Celebration’ world tour, to honour the fortieth anniversary of her career.
The pop icon was admitted to intensive care on June 24 and continues to get medical care in hospital. The star’s manager Guy Oseary shared the news in a post on Instagram, announcing that she had suffered a ‘serious bacterial infection’.
As per the New York Post, the sixty-four-year-old was found ‘unresponsive’ at a New York City residence on Saturday, and was then admitted to the ICU. She was said to have been intubated, but has since had the tube removed and has been moved into a regular ward.
Thankfully, her manager reassured fans her condition has improved and she is expected to make a full recovery.
She was set to embark on ‘Celebration’ world tour in less than 3 weeks’ time, but the shows have now been postponed to allow for time for the star to make a full recovery.
The statement from her management team read: “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.
“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
In the wake of the heartbreaking news of Madonna’s hospitalisation, fans have become concerned with an ominous post that she shared on June 20 that appeared to foreshadow her ill health.
“Calm before the storm,” she captioned the collection of snaps from her tour preparation. Images include her sat at a piano, stood in the centre of the stage rehearsing and pics of her getting her hair and makeup done.
The comments section is full of fans sharing their well wishes for the star.
