Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon has given social media an update after her mum was found unresponsive and rushed to the ICU earlier this week.
The news comes just weeks before the star was set to embark on her eighty-four date ‘Celebration’ world tour, to honour the fortieth anniversary of her career.
The pop icon was admitted to intensive care on June 24 and continues to get medical care in hospital. The star’s manager Guy Oseary shared the news in a post on Instagram, announcing that she had suffered a ‘serious bacterial infection’.
As per the Page Six, the sixty-four-year-old was found ‘unresponsive’ at a New York City residence on Saturday, and was then admitted to the ICU. She was intubated for at least one night before the tube was removed, but is now alert and recovering in a general ward.
Thankfully, her manager reassured fans her condition has improved and she is expected to make a full recovery.
She was set to embark on her ‘Celebration’ world tour in less than 3 weeks’ time, but the shows have now been postponed to allow for time for the star to get better.
The statement from her management team read: “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.
“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
In the wake of the heartbreaking news of Madonna’s hospitalisation, fans have been flocking to an ominous post that she shared on June 20 that appeared to foreshadow her ill health.
“Calm before the storm,” she captioned the collection of snaps from her tour preparation. Images include her sat at a piano, stood in the centre of the stage rehearsing and pics of her getting her hair and makeup done.
Elsewhere on Instagram, Madonna’s eldest child Lourdes Leon has issued an update to her followers via her Stories.
The twenty-six-year-old shared a snap of her standing next to what appears to be an empty stage, clothed in dark blue jeans and a corset top. She tagged the shoe brand Vans with a kissy face.
It comes after Page Six reported that Lourdes has been by her mother’s side throughout her hospitalisation.

Madonna has 6 children altogether. Lourdes is her eldest, who she had with Carlos Leon.
Then comes twenty-two-year-old Rocco Ritchie, whose father is movie director Guy Ritchie.
In 2008, she adopted seventeen-year-old David Banda from an orphanage in Malawi, with her adoption of Chifundo “Mercy” James following a year later.
Her youngest children are ten-year-old twins Stella and Estere, who she adopted from the country in 2012.
