The highly anticipated Barbie movie has finally hit the big screen, and fans have flocked to cinemas all over the globe to watch the new flick.
However, things got rather out of hand in one cinema after one screening, when a full-blown fight broke out between 2 women.
Now, Barbie is undoubtedly one of the biggest movie releases in recent years, and it’s no surprise really when you look at the absolutely dazzling cast, the critically acclaimed writing and directing team, and the fact that it’s all about one of the most iconic toys to ever grace this planet.
When the trailer dropped earlier this year and gave us an exciting glimpse into the world of plastic fantastic, there was one detail in particular that fans couldn’t get over – Margot Robbie’s feet!
However, now the flick has finally hit screens, certain people have found something else to be bothered about. Conservative commentators such as Ben Shapiro and Piers Morgan have slammed the film for its portrayal of the patriarchy and the ‘anti-man’ sentiments.
Despite this, the flick has received hugely positive reviews, with an impressive rating of ninety percent from Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ score.
The film’s director, Greta Gerwig, responded to the backlash when asked about it during an interview with The New York Times.
“Certainly, there’s a lot of passion,” she said. “My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men.”
“I hope that in all of that passion, if they see it or engage with it, it can give them some of the relief that it gave other people.”
However, thus far, the movie seems to be a huge smash hit with cinemagoers, having brought in a whopping $382 million worldwide so far, per Variety.
In one such cinema, though, viewers found themselves disgruntled not by the film itself, but rather the movie watchers around them.
Per TMZ, during a screening in a cinema in Brazil, 2 women got into a brawl. The reason for it was supposedly because someone allowed their child to watch YouTube during the film screening.
