Jennifer Aniston has finally opened up about a rumour involving her and David Schwimmer, her former Friends co-star.
Aniston appeared on Thursday’s edition of Live with Kelly and Mark to discuss an interview that first aired in March. She detailed to the presenters what it was like to kiss Schwimmer on Friends.
The duo starred as Ross Geller and Rachel Green, the couple famous for going on multiple breaks throughout the show, and one that viewers cheered for during the many seasons of the popular sitcom.
Fans have always questioned whether their on-screen chemistry and magnetism carried over to their off-screen relationship, and Jennifer has now officially answered their question.
“In the early years, you [and Schwimmer] had a crush on each other,” Ripa stated in the Youtube clip.
“Yes we did,” Aniston replies.
The 54-year-old actress reiterates her comments as the crowd starts to applaud.
She tells the audience, “We just let it play out on TV.”
The show’s new presenter Ryan Secrest, who replaced Mark Consuelos, asks, “So, was your first kiss a TV kiss.”
“Yes,” she said.
“And was it weird?” asks Ripa.
“Well, no, it was quite enjoyable, actually,” she reveals, before adding: “Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop so, we just channeled all of our love and adoration for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
This isn’t the first time this topic has come up. Schwimmer has previously said that he had a “major crush” on Aniston during the first season of Friends at the Friends: The Reunion documentary in 2021.
Aniston said that she experienced the same emotions.
“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary,” Schwimmer explained. “We respected that.”
Additionally, Aniston has sworn in earlier interviews that they never let their emotions leave the studio, or spill out into their real lives.
Talking to Howard Stern in a 2021 interview, she said: “He was lovely, David was great,” she added: “But no, we never, on my life [got together]… We were in relationships and it was always never the right time and it wouldn’t have worked.”
