Chrissy Teigen has sent fans into a tizzy after she revealed that she completed a DNA test that then resulted in a direct match with an identical twin.
The star took to Instagram to discuss the revelation after receiving the results from her 23AndMe test, which she said she undertook as part of her “journey of health and wellness.”
Now, Chrissy Teigen is one of the most successful women out there.
After starting her career as a briefcase model on Deal or No Deal, Teigen quickly became one of the biggest models of her generation with her regular features in Sports Illustrated.
However, Teigen then pivoted her career to become more diverse, expanding her skillset to launch everything from a capsule swimwear line to bestselling cookbooks.
The thirty-seven-year-old is also renowned for her family life, as she and her musician husband John Legend share all sorts of adorable snippets from life at home with their 4 children. She has been open about her motherhood journey, including her struggles with pregnancy.
However, the latest update from Teigen is one of the most shocking yet. The star took to Instagram to update her followers on a situation that she was ‘spiralling’ over after an “insane” twenty-four hours.
Teigen revealed that she had taken a DNA test as part of a 23AndMe kit, after her therapist encouraged her to try and “figure out a lot about my past”.
“And the first thing that came up after I found out that I was part Neanderthal, was this: I have an identical twin. That has to be a joke, right?” Teigen said.
She revealed she reached out to her twin, before asking the 23AndMe chatbot “how accurate” the match was, wondering if there could have been a “glitch.”
“I text my f—ing doctor that, hello. Honestly, at this point I’m spiraling,” she continued. “I call my dad and I literally say, ‘Dad, hey, did you see me come out of mom’s vagina and were there two of me?’ He starts laughing, saying ‘No, I was there, there were not two of you!’ I was like, ‘Are you sure you were there?’”
She went on to say that she called her sister, who’s gasp in response only furthered her belief in the mystery twin.
“At this point, I’m making excuses for my whole life,” Teigen carried on. “I’m like, ‘This is why I’m so co-dependent, because my twin was ripped away from me! This is why I always felt something missing and this is why I have addiction issues.’ I’m like, literally, ‘Holy f***!’”
However, the mystery was soon resolved when her sister recalled how Teigen had undertaken a DNA test under ‘secret names’ for the PBS show Finding Your Roots, and although her episode was never completed, the test had still been submitted.
“My identical twin my myself, I was matching myself,” she concluded.
To mark an end to the saga, Teigen drew a headstone for “Sissy Teigen,” adding “Sister, Aunt & Friend,” as well as a date of birth and death as 4th June 2023.
In reality, Teigen’s only sibling is her sister Tina, who her mum Pepper had before marrying Teigen’s father.
