Alba Baptista and Chris Evans have reportedly wed over the weekend, meaning he’s officially off the market.
However, following the news, fans have been left in shock about the pair’s ‘concerning’ age gap.
The newlyweds tied the knot in a small ceremony held at their home in the Boston region on Saturday.
According to an insider, the wedding was “locked down tight,” with attendees signing NDAs and handing over their phones.
There were a handful of their closest family and friends at the ceremony, with Evans Marvel co-stars, such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner making an appearance.
The pair initially stirred up relationship rumours back in November 2022, when a source informed People that the couple had been dating for “over a year.”
“They are in love, and Chris has never been happier,” the insider added. “His family and friends all adore her.”
Within hours of the news breaking, the couple was spotted holding hands on a stroll in Central Park.
Evans has been showing his love for Baptista online, despite the fact that nothing is really known about the private couple’s relationship.
Despite this, the actor revealed he wanted to get married late last year.
“That’s absolutely something I want — wife, kids, building a family,” he told People. “When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared.”
He continued, “So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better.”
After finding out the news, fans have done some snooping, and all come to realise the same thing – that the age gap between Evans and Baptista is on the questionable side of things.
Evans turned forty-two years old back in June, but Baptista is just twenty-six years old, having had her birthday in July. This means that there is sixteen years difference between the pair, which is something fans have found to be hugely questionable.
“I don’t care what anyone says, 42 and 26 is something. She’s barely starting when he has already a spot in the industry. they’re in different stages of their life. She wasn’t even born and he was already a teen. Idc how mature she is, it’s never been about her. it’s him, 42,” one person wrote.
A second put: “Their age gap is so icky like i’m sorry but i can’t even think what two people in their age brackets would have in common.”
While a third said: “She was 8 and he was playing in the Fantastic Four.”
