Charlie Newling, known best for appearing on The Bachelorette, has died after his car was driven off a cliff. He was just 36.

The devastating news comes just months after the birth of his second child.

Newling’s car was spotted on fire at the base of the 70-meter cliff, in Dover Heights, Sydney, when locals called the police, according to MailOnline. Officials have stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

It was his appearance on Australia’s The Bachlorette back in 2018 where he first gained notoriety, with viewers referring to Newling as “Mr Perfect.”

His daughter was born in July of this year after he left the programme with partner Kristal Taylor. He also has a son from a previous relationship, who is 13.

Sadly, Newling has been part of some controversy in the past due to his demeanour on the show. Viewers alleged that he was domineering towards Oetjen during his time on the programme and that he refused to introduce her to his family unless they became ‘exclusive.’

And it didn’t end there, soon after being fired from the programme, he was seen being tackled to the ground at a local pub. Charlie said that the altercation with the bouncers began late at night, after he had been drinking and partying with pals.

He also didn’t inform anyone on the show that he had a child from an earlier relationship. It was subsequently discovered, resulting in even more controversy.

To make matters worse, late last year, he threatened to kill and torture his stepfather and was given a 13-month prison term. 37 texts were allegedly sent, in which one of them read, “I’m going to kill him one day in front of you before I go.”

Another read: “you have no idea what I’m capable of but just know it’s not going to be pretty.”

The star allegedly struggled with alcoholism, and had a hard time after the death of his father in 2018.

Following the tragic news of Charlie’s death, dozens of fans have taken to social media to share their tributes online, one wrote: “Another young life lost, deepest sympathy to his family.”

While a second commented: “So sad!! Prayers for his family.”

“Devastating, so young,” a third added.

Another commenter wrote: “This is very sad news. I hope his family is coping.”

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace.
