However, what many people don’t know about the star is that behind the scenes he has suffered from various health issues.
One of the things he suffers from forces him to wear a glove on his left hand, something that raised a lot of questions from viewers of this year’s Oscars after people noticed what the veteran actor was wearing.
Some thought it might have been a prosthetic, however, the real reason is heartbreaking…
Viewers noticed that along with his suit, he wore a single black glove, and it turns out there’s a devastating reason behind his wardrobe choice.
One fan wrote: “Dang… Morgan Freeman now looks really old, and what’s going on with his left hand?”
While another echoed: “Bruh Morgan freeman really look old old now. Not like his regular old, but like dude elderly now. And I wonder what’s wrong with his hand…”
“Hmmm what’s up with Morgan Freeman’s one hand in a black glove?” questioned a third.
Well, it turns out, way back in 2008, the star was involved in a car crash that caused some serious damage to his left arm.
According to a local newspaper at the time: “They had to use the jaws of life [hydraulic cutters] to extract him from the vehicle.
“He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”
And since then he has always struggled with pain in his arm and hand, meaning he has to wear a compression glove to keep the blood flowing.
Freeman has previously opened up about the injury, saying: “I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it.
“If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?”
He revealed to Esquire in 2016 when asked about his pain: “It’s the fibromyalgia. Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating.”
