Sharon Osbourne has revealed that her and her husband Ozzy have an assisted dying pact in place for if they were to ever become terminally ill.

The seventy-one-year-old opened up about her and her husband’s plan on The Osbourne Podcast, in which Sharon appears alongside her husband as well as their 2 children Jack and Kelly.

News of their agreement comes 7 months after Ozzy announced his retirement, and cancelled all of his remaining shows due to ill health.

The seventy-four-year-old rock legend suffered a bout of poor health beginning back in 2019, when a fall further aggravated injuries he suffered in a dangerous accident involving a quad bike from 2003, via the BBC.

Osbourne is still suffering now from the damage he did to his spine after his fall.

In addition to this, he also suffers from Parkinson’s disease, which he was first diagnosed with back in 2003, but first revealed in 2020.

The star shared the news of his retirement in a heartbreaking statement posted to his social media accounts.

“This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans,” his post began.

“As you may all know, 4 years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine.

“My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after 3 operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.

“I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realisation that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required.

“Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F***S ME UP, more than you will ever know.

“Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way. My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.

“I want to thank my family……my band…….my crew……my longtime friends, Judas Preist, and of course, my fans for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support, and for giving me the life that I never ever dreamed I would have.

“I love you all…”

However, the latest news from the family addressed what were to happen to Ozzy and Sharon if they were ever diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Speaking on their podcast, son Jack brought up the rumours that the pair planned to go to Switzerland for assisted dying if they were ever diagnosed with an illness such as Alzheimer’s.

“[We] have drawn up plans to go to the assisted s**cide flat in Switzerland if we ever have an illness that affects our brains,” Sharon previously told the Daily Mirror back in 2007, per UNILAD.

“If Ozzy or I ever got Alzheimer’s, that’s it – we’d be off.”

“I saw my father suffer from [Alzheimer’s] the day he came back into my life in 2002 to the day he died in July [2007]. There’s no way I could go through what he did, or put my kids through that,” she told the outlet.

“At least with something like cancer you can communicate, say how you feel and explain why your body hurts.”

In a recent episode of their podcast, Jack asked his mum if that was still their plan.

“Do you think that we’re gonna suffer?” Sharon replied.

Jack claimed that the family are ‘already all suffering’, but Sharon disagreed.

“Yes, we all are, but I don’t want it to actually hurt, as well. Mental suffering is enough pain without physical. So if you’ve got mental and physical, see ya,” she said.

Kelly questioned her mum about whether the pair would think about changing their plans if they could survive their diagnosis.

“Yeah, what if you survived and you can’t wipe your own ass, you’re pissing everywhere, sh**ting, can’t eat,” Sharon responded.
