Married at First Sight (MAFS) star Shona Manderson has confirmed her return for the show’s reunion episode, despite her early departure from the current season due to concerns about her relationship with husband Brad Skelly.
Shona and Brad left the current season of MAFS after the show’s experts and producers determined that their relationship had become unhealthy. However, Shona has now revealed that her fate will be addressed in the upcoming reunion episode.
Speaking on the MAFS Hysteria podcast, Shona disclosed that her appearance in the reunion episode had already been recorded, adding a hint of uncertainty about whether she should have divulged this information: “We got sent home at the end of April, we were together for about five or six weeks, then I went to Sri Lanka at the beginning of June and then went back to the reunion, obviously. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that…”
Shona elaborated on her experience, explaining that taking a solo holiday helped her reflect on the challenging journey she had embarked on: “I just really spent time thinking: ‘Ok, that was really painful and hard, but what have you learned? What are you going to take forward in life, and what are you never ever going to stand for again’?”
Before their exit from the show, viewers had expressed concerns about Brad’s behavior, describing it as controlling and coercive. Many viewers called for the show to intervene. The couple, who had not participated in previous commitment ceremonies, officially left the show on October 12.
In a statement shared with Mail Online regarding the departure of Shona and Brad, Channel 4 emphasised their commitment to the well-being of all participants in the show: “The couple’s exit plays out in the show. It was agreed alongside experts Paul, Mel, and Charlene that the intensive Married at First Sight environment was not working for the couple, and it was the right time to leave the experiment. The welfare of all contributors on Married at First Sight UK is our top priority, and we ensure that appropriate support is available to contributors at all times during filming, including 24/7 access to a member of the welfare team or psych support.”
