Matthew Perry’s untimely passing left a deep impact on those who knew him, including former co-star Ione Skye, who recently shared the final text she received from the Friends star before his tragic demise.

Following the sudden and unexpected news of Perry’s death at his Los Angeles home on October 28, fans, friends, and the entertainment world at large united in remembering the actor.

His passing came as a shock, occurring only a year after Perry had openly discussed his prior brushes with death due to his well-documented battles with addiction, detailed in his memoir, “Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing.”

Reports from law enforcement sources suggested no indication of foul play or substance involvement at the scene where Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub.

In his book, Perry delved into his struggles with addiction, his journey to maintain sobriety, and his efforts to assist others facing similar challenges. Just days before his passing, he engaged in a heartfelt conversation with his former co-star Skye, who had collaborated with Perry on the 1988 film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon.” Skye took to Instagram, sharing a screenshot of her final exchange with Perry.

The conversation initiated by the Friends actor commenced with a message expressing, “Hi! I hope all is well.” Perry continued, sharing, “I was meditating (I meditate now) and ‘In You[r] Eyes’ started playing. And I instantly thought of you and how beautiful you are.”

An hour later, Skye responded with affection, saying, “Awe. I love that. Xo.”

Perry expressed his wishes for Skye’s well-being, to which she replied affirmatively, stating she was both healthy and happy. “Good to hear from you. I only have nice memories with you,” she added.

“Me too,” Perry responded. “That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment, and there you were!”

Skye refrained from elaborating further on the shared memory with Perry but accompanied the screenshots with a photo of them together, expressing deep sorrow, stating, “My last exchange a week ago,” adding, “Loved this guy.”

In the film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” Perry portrayed the best friend of River Phoenix’s character, while Skye starred as Phoenix’s character’s girlfriend.

Skye became the latest in a series of Perry’s former co-stars to honor the actor, following tributes from his on-screen girlfriends in Friends, Maggie Wheeler (Janice) and Paget Brewster (Kathy), who also expressed their condolences following his passing.
