In a surprising turn of events, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, has shifted his stance on Bud Light, signaling a change from his earlier call for a boycott that cost Anheuser-Busch InBev millions of dollars.

The 52-year-old musician had been a vocal critic of the beer brand in April after it sent a personalized case of beer to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

In a video posted on social media, Kid Rock expressed his disdain for Bud Light, even going so far as to shoot a crate of the beverage. His actions contributed to a conservative backlash against the brand, with calls for a boycott gaining traction.

However, during a recent appearance on Fox News with host Sean Hannity on November 16, Kid Rock revealed a shift in his perspective. He stated that he didn’t want to be part of the cancel culture and boycott movements that negatively impact working-class people, indicating a departure from his earlier stance.

“I know people that work there, and it’s not so cool to be wearing around that blue shirt anymore, going places,” Kid Rock acknowledged. “This is why they have a problem right now, it’s like, I can let the thing go.”

Describing himself as a conservative and a patriot, Kid Rock expressed his belief in forgiveness and explained that, as a Christian, he had given the issue considerable thought. He acknowledged that mistakes were made but emphasized the need for a balanced response instead of advocating for the destruction of jobs and businesses.

“As a God-fearing man, as a Christian, I have to believe in forgiveness. They made a mistake, all right. What do you want, hold their head under water and drown them and kill people’s jobs? I don’t want to do that,” Kid Rock stated during the interview. However, he made it clear that he expects Bud Light to demonstrate efforts to win back consumers like himself.

“I hope—at the same time, I don’t want to be their biggest cheerleader. I want them to show me something to get me back as a consumer, as a drinker,” Kid Rock added.

The initial controversy began when Dylan Mulvaney, a TikTok sensation, shared a video of the Bud Light gift she received on April 1. Kid Rock, along with other conservative figures like country singer Travis Tritt and political commentator Ben Shapiro, joined the boycott, leading to a significant drop in Bud Light’s sales over the summer.

Despite Kid Rock’s past animosity towards the brand, he was spotted drinking Bud Light in August, sparking online mockery. His recent comments, however, suggest a willingness to move beyond the previous boycott and consider reevaluating his stance on the popular beer brand.
