Tom Brady Regrets Netflix Roast After Gisele Joke ‘Affected My Kids’

During an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast,” Tom Brady opened up about how some of the jokes made during his Netflix roast impacted his children, revealing that he wouldn’t sign up for such an event again due to this reason. The NFL legend shares three children, one son with Bridget Moynahan and a son and a daughter with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. While Brady didn’t specify which jokes upset his children during the Netflix roast, many comedians present took aim at his marriage and divorce to Bündchen.

“I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” Brady confessed on the podcast. “It’s the hardest part about… the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”

“It makes you in some ways a better parent going through it,” Brady continued. “Sometimes you’re naive. You don’t know. When I signed up for that… I love when people are making fun of me. I always said when I was going through the Deflategate stuff that I watched three things on TV: Premier League soccer, golf, and comedy shows. Every time I turned on SportsCenter it was like, are you fucking kidding me? I just want to laugh. I wanted to do the roast because Jeff Ross became somebody I knew. But you don’t see the full picture all the time.”

Brady further reflected on the Netflix roast as “a good lesson for me as a parent,” expressing his intention to become a better parent as a result. He emphasized the importance of laughter and celebrating each other’s successes.

The Netflix roast of Tom Brady was well-received by subscribers and was a highlight of Netflix Is a Joke Fest, hosted by Kevin Hart and roast master Jeff Ross. Comedians like Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Sam Jay participated in the roast, alongside Brady’s former teammates Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Drew Bledsoe, and more.

Glaser particularly targeted Brady and his divorce during her roast, poking fun at various aspects of his life, including Bündchen’s relationship with her jiu-jitsu instructor.

“Tom Brady. Five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns,” Glaser joked. “You have seven rings — well, eight, now that Gisele gave hers back. The only thing dumber than saying yes to this roast was when you said, ‘Hey babe, you should try jiu-jitsu.’”
