New Details Emerge After Shock Death Of Golfer Grayson Murray During PGA Tournament

Professional golfer Grayson Murray tragically passed away from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after inadvertently filling his Florida townhouse with toxic exhaust fumes, as reported by DailyMail.com.

The 30-year-old, a two-time PGA tour winner, is believed to have left his Land Rover running in the garage of his Palm Beach Gardens residence before retiring to the upper floors, where the lethal fumes accumulated.

Neighbors became concerned upon hearing prolonged, loud engine noises around 12:30 am on Saturday, but by the time they investigated, the noise had ceased. Later, the sound of a carbon monoxide alarm alerted locals, prompting a call to police, who discovered the distressing scene.

Murray, candid about his struggles with alcohol and mental health, was found deceased in the master bedroom upstairs. His family has confirmed his passing as a suicide.

‘My thought was maybe it was a kid revving a car. I went outside to investigate but by then there was no sound,’ revealed an anonymous neighbour.

A Palm Beach Gardens Police Department spokesman confirmed an ongoing investigation into Murray’s death, stating, ‘The decedent was discovered on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 11:00 am. The initial inquiry does not reveal signs of foul play.’

The tragedy occurred a day after Murray withdrew from the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, citing feeling unwell. His family expressed their anguish over the loss, stating, ‘We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone.’

Murray, who openly discussed his struggles with depression and alcoholism, had recently made significant strides in his career by embracing sobriety and reclaiming his PGA Tour membership. He had credited his supportive family and fiancée Christiana Ritchie for his renewed focus and success on the golf course.

While the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident remain under investigation, Murray’s passing has left a void in the golfing community. PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan expressed his condolences, describing Murray’s death as leaving him ‘lost for words.’

Murray’s caddie, Jay Green, echoed these sentiments, recalling Murray as an exceptional individual and a cherished friend.
