‘100% Real’ Mandela Effect At Taco Bell Has Everyone Losing Their Minds

Taco Bell customers have been scratching their heads, wondering if they are misremembering a feature that used to be common in most restaurants.

The Mandela Effect is a well-known phenomenon that can leave people questioning their memories. Essentially, it’s a false memory shared by multiple people who incorrectly remember the same thing. You might think, “That doesn’t apply to me,” but just wait.

Some classic examples have even made the greatest skeptics admit they’ve misremembered events, phrases, or moments. For instance, Darth Vader’s famous line in Star Wars, “Luke, I am your father,” is actually “No, I am your father,” and is often misquoted. Or perhaps you thought the Saturday morning cartoon featuring Bugs Bunny was called Looney Toons? In reality, it’s Looney Tunes. You get the idea.

A Facebook group, Mandela Effect & Glitches In The Matrix, has left people puzzled about a feature they swear they always saw at Taco Bell.

A woman in the group questioned whether the coin boxes at the fast-food chain used to contain water. With card payments becoming the norm, charity coin boxes aren’t as common these days—remember the ones where coins would swirl around a basin before dropping?

The woman posted: “I know most of us will remember these at Taco Bell. The Taco Bell’s local to me had them up until about 10 years ago and I found it very strange that I said at the time ‘well that’s dumb! They don’t even have water in them anymore’. I clearly remember they used to hold water. Nobody I’ve ever discussed with recalls the water but I am 100% certain they DID used to be full of water.”

She asked, “Anyone else remember them with water?”

Many people in the comments insisted they did have water, with one claiming they “1000000%” did. However, some thought they never contained water, sparking heated discussions among social media users.

A few suggested that there were likely two models available to restaurants, one with water and one without. Others claimed they all had water at one point but were likely drained due to potential leaks.

One person even posted an image of a coin box, although it was a slightly different design, as proof they once held water.

Do you remember the coin boxes filled with water or not?
