Alison Watson, director of Shelter Scotland, criticized the move, stating that homeless people are being placed in “direct competition” with tourists, describing the situation as a “blatant injustice.” Despite the council’s legal obligation to provide accommodation for the homeless, Watson’s statement highlights the ethical dilemma posed by prioritizing tourists over vulnerable residents.
