Fears Mount For Hollywood Legend Liza Minnelli

Showbiz icon Liza Minnelli is unable to attend the Tribeca Film Festival in New York due to health concerns. The festival, which will feature a new documentary titled “Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story” about her life, was a personal invitation from festival founder Robert De Niro, a long-time friend and former co-star.

The documentary, highly anticipated for its rare archival footage and interviews with friends, delves into Minnelli’s journey, beginning with the loss of her mother, Judy Garland. However, Minnelli, 78, has had to decline the invitation due to health issues that would make traveling from her home in Beverly Hills to New York challenging. She was recently spotted in California using a wheelchair.

Despite her absence, Minnelli remains active on social media, where she shared updates on her ongoing projects, including new recording endeavours. Regarding the documentary, she expressed excitement, stating, “I’ve been working quietly with a brilliant director, Bruce David Klein, to bring the real story of how my career in films and more began.”

Director Klein also shared enthusiasm for the film, highlighting the discovery of previously unseen footage that sheds light on Minnelli’s transformation during the 1970s.

Minnelli’s recent health struggles have included a confusing moment at the Oscars in 2022, where she appeared in a wheelchair and encountered difficulty with her presentation. Close friends attribute this to last-minute changes in arrangements.

Despite her health challenges, Minnelli has continued to pursue her passions, remaining sober since 2015 and engaging in various projects. However, her absence from events like the Tribeca Film Festival underscores the toll her health has taken.
