Harry And Meghan ‘Can’t Visit Australia’ During Their World Tour

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly facing obstacles in their plans for a world tour, despite the success of their recent trip to Nigeria. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, are said to be keen on embarking on more international visits following their positive experience in Nigeria. However, royal reporter Louise Roberts has pointed out that their desire for privacy seems at odds with the concept of a world tour.

Speaking to Sky News Australia, Roberts mentioned that after their successful visit to Nigeria in May, Harry expressed interest in doing more such tours. She criticized the couple for their seeming contradiction, noting that their obsession with privacy does not align with the high-profile nature of a world tour. Additionally, Roberts explained that Harry and Meghan are currently unable to travel to Australia due to a potential scheduling conflict with King Charles and Queen Camilla’s planned tour of the country in October.

During their visit to Nigeria, Meghan and Harry shared several behind-the-scenes moments, including an emotional exchange when Meghan received a special gift for their children, Archie and Lilibet. Meghan was touched by the gesture from 13-year-old Grace Busari, who presented her with hand-stitched teddy bears made from traditional African print material. This heartfelt moment underscored the personal connections made during their visit.

Stephanie Busari, Grace’s mother and a senior editor at CNN Nigeria, accompanied Meghan and Harry on their trip. She praised the couple for their warmth, compassion, and ability to connect with the local community. Harry’s interactions, such as playing volleyball with disabled servicemen and showing compassion during a hospital visit, were particularly noted.

Despite the private nature of their visit, it resembled a royal tour in all but name. The trip highlighted important issues such as mental health and support for injured servicemen and women, while also challenging negative perceptions about Nigeria. Meghan received a warm welcome and was celebrated as an honorary “Naija girl,” receiving several traditional Nigerian names in the process.
