Fans Lose Their Minds Over New Netflix Movie With 25 Million Views In Two Days

Jessica Alba’s latest film, Trigger Warning, has made a splash on Netflix, despite receiving harsh reviews. The action crime thriller debuted on June 21 and quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies chart, racking up 25.7 million views within its first four days. This viewership translates to a staggering 45.9 million hours watched, securing the film’s No. 1 spot for the week of June 17-23.

Critics, however, have not been kind to Trigger Warning. Rotten Tomatoes critics initially gave the movie a 26% “rotten” rating based on 19 reviews. As more reviews came in, the rating dropped further to 20% based on 30 reviews. The RT Audience Score has fared no better, holding steady at 16% “rotten” from over 250 user ratings.

In spite of the poor critical reception, viewers have flocked to see Alba’s return to the screen. In Trigger Warning, she plays Parker, a Special Forces commando called back home after her father, Harry (played by Alejandro De Hoyos), dies under mysterious circumstances. Suspecting foul play, Parker teams up with a fellow commando, Spider (Tone Bell), to investigate the potential murder. The cast also includes Anthony Michael Hall as Senator Ezekiel Swann, who Parker believes is part of the cover-up surrounding her father’s death.

Trigger Warning is Alba’s first movie role in five years, following her performance alongside Gary Oldman in 2019’s Killers Anonymous. Despite the negative reviews, the film’s popularity on Netflix suggests that Alba’s star power and the film’s gripping premise have struck a chord with audiences worldwide.
