Scary Movie star Erica Ash has sadly died aged 46.

Ash was a talented American actress, comedian, singer, and model, best known for her versatile performances across television, film, and stage. Born on September 19, 1977, in Florida, Ash carved out a niche for herself in the entertainment industry with her dynamic range and infectious energy.

Ash began her career in the arts with a focus on theater, performing in Broadway productions such as “The Lion King” and “Spamalot.” Her stage work demonstrated her strong singing abilities and comedic timing, which soon translated into success on television. She gained significant recognition as a cast member on the sketch comedy show “MADtv,” where her versatility allowed her to embody a wide range of characters, showcasing her comedic prowess and timing.

Erica Ash’s comedic skills also shone brightly on the popular BET series “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” where she played the character Bridgette. Her role on the show earned her widespread acclaim for her sharp wit and charismatic presence. Another notable television role was as M-Chuck Calloway in the Starz series “Survivor’s Remorse,” which offered her the opportunity to explore more dramatic material. Her performance was praised for its depth and complexity, as she portrayed a woman navigating the challenges of fame and family.

In addition to her television work, Ash appeared in various films, including “Scary Movie 5” and “Jean of the Joneses.” She has also lent her voice to animated series like “The Lion Guard,” demonstrating her versatility across different mediums.

Outside of acting, Erica Ash was known for her work as a motivational speaker and advocate for mental health awareness. Her commitment to using her platform to address important social issues further solidified her as a respected figure in the entertainment industry.

The American actress, known for her appearance in the Scary Movie franchise as well as the Fox sketch comedy show, Mad TV and Real Husbands of Hollywood, had suffered a long battle with cancer.

Her family shared a statement:

‘Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor and genuine zest for life,’

Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.’ 

She passed on 28 July 2024 in Los Angeles, according to her publicist Elizabeth Much.
