Melania Trump has released a video on social media making a significant claim about the recent assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.
In the video, shared on Instagram, Melania expressed her thoughts on the shooting that occurred during a campaign rally while Trump was speaking.
The incident took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman, later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired shots at Trump, hitting his ear and causing it to bleed. Trump was swiftly evacuated from the stage by Secret Service agents, who ultimately shot and killed the assailant.
Following the attack, Trump took to social media, writing on Truth Social, “much bleeding took place.” He also expressed gratitude to the Secret Service for their “rapid response,” adding, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong… I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.”
Melania, however, raised questions about the event in her video, suggesting there is “more to the story” behind the attempt on her husband’s life.
Speaking directly to the camera, she said, “The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience. Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why law enforcement officials didn’t arrest the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth.”
The video concludes with an image promoting her upcoming memoir, Melania, set to be released in October.
Her statements follow new details about the assassination attempt, with U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle calling the event “unacceptable.” In an interview with ABC News, Cheatle said, “The buck stops with me. I am the director of the Secret Service, and I need to make sure that we are performing a review and that we are giving resources to our personnel as necessary.”
