Police Give Major Update On Woman Who Disappeared After Missing Connecting Flight At LAX

The police have given a major update on a woman who went missing after not boarding her connecting flight at LAX.

Hannah Kobayashi disappeared over 2 weeks ago after she missed her flight to New York.

Landing in LAX on 8 November from Hawaii, the 23-year-old is said to have acted ‘out-of-character’ before she vanished.

Her sister claims that ‘someone was controlling her’ and multiple friends and family received unusual text messages from her.

She was spotted numerous times in LA, once at a shopping mall, a Nike event and a metro station before she completely vanished.

Her phone has been offline since 11 November.

Kobayashi’s father went to LA to aid the police in their investigation to find her. After two weeks, his body was found at the bottom of a parking garage near the airport. The Los Angeles County medical examiner ruled his death a suicide.

On Tuesday, a meeting with the LAPD Board of Commissioners took place, where LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell addressed the case.

He shared that the family are doing their own investigation and his detectives are looking into CCTV footage from the areas that Kobayashi was seen.

Police have determined that the Hawaiian missed her flight on purpose.

He said: “On Friday, Nov. 8 23-year-old Hannah Kobayashi missed her connecting flight from LAX to New York which the investigation determined was intentional,

“Over the next few days, she maintained contact with her family and remained active on Instagram.”

“Our hearts go out to the Kobayashi family during this unimaginable time of grief. We remain fully committed to locating Hannah and supporting the family as they navigate their way through this tragedy,”.

This follows the discovery that Hannah made two strange payments while in LA via Venmo.

On 9 November, one payment came out at 6.25pm to a Vernoica Almendarez with a bow and arrow emoji. Another left her account at 7.19pm, with the reference ‘Reading’.
