Canadian national anthem singer has been slammed online for changing the lyrics to attack Donald Trump.
Chantal Kreviazuk decided to aim a shot at the president by changing the words before the Canada – Boston Hockey game.
The teams, which were contesting the 4 Nations Face-Off which saw Canada win, have seen things heat up in recent weeks after Trump suggested that US should annex Canada and make it it’s 51st state.
Canada fans decided to show their feelings about this suggestion by booing the US flag as it was held up before the games.
Things reached a new level when Kreviazuk sang ‘O Canada’ and changed the line from ‘in all of us command’ to ‘that only us command,’ as a strong message to Trump.
A rep for the singer shared that the change in lyric was done on purpose as a message to the US leader.

The singer then shared a photo of the change in lyrics written on her hand at the game to prove that she had made the change on purpose.
She wrote: ‘i am sorry if my performance of our national anthem rubbed you the wrong way. if i was a little off pitch or if it wasn’t perfect in its tone.
‘i am sorry if i messed up the french line i inserted to bring some balance to our nation’s history without losing those words “glorious and free” in english…’
i am sorry if you think that we’d be better off annexed.
here is the thing. art to me is an expression of our truth. and in this very peculiar and potentially consequential moment i truly believe that we must stand up, use our voices and try to protect ourselves… no – we should express our outrage in the face of any abuses of power. i was raised in part by music that was inspired by brave voices committed to peaceful conflict resolution.
Canada , not unlike ukraine is a sovereign nation. period. we have a culture individual to others. we are united in our values. we care. we’re kind. We are strong. #canadastrong #expressyourtruth #peaceandlove‘
She received a mixed response on social platforms, with some saying her performance was ‘out of tune’. One person wrote: ‘That might be the worst Canadian anthem I’ve heard… Wow. I’m sure she was nervous but messing up lyrics multiple times in the first sentence is crazy,’.
‘That singer that sang the Canadian anthem, is from Canada… Why didn’t she know the lyrics ??,’ another wrote.
‘I dont know it, obviously, but it lowkey sounded like the woman singing the canadian anthem was singing like she was only about 70% sure she knew the lyrics lol,’ wrote a third.
Her anthem was booed by American fans which caused more backlash online: ‘That Chantal Kreviazuk anthem was more disrespectful than any booing could ever be.’ wrote one person.
