The Oscars have been slammed after one celebrity was left out of the ‘in memoriam’ section of the awards ceremony.
Michelle Trachtenberg’s death came as a shock to fans after it was announced on 26 February.
The TV star, well known for playing Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl and Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer sadly died aged 39.
Her fans had previously voiced concern over her frail appearance only days before she died.
Sadly, her fans were left disappointed that her name was not mentioned during the ‘In Memoriam’ section of the Oscars. Morgan Freeman delivered a touching tribute to the late Gene Hackman as well as other stars such as Maggie Smith, James Early Jones and David Lynch.
Trachtenberg’s name did not come up, however, and fans are not happy.
Taking to X, one person wrote: ‘Michelle Trachtenberg deserved to be shown and remembered in that Oscar’s in memoriam. That was actually disrespectful and bulls*** @TheAcademy what the f***’

As reported by Deadline, her loved ones have decided against an autopsy for religious reasons. Due to their being no foul play suspected, the decision was approved by a medical examiner.
Trachtenberg was found at her home in New York on the 26th February.
It was previously announced that she had undergone surgery recently for a liver transplant. It is believed her body may have rejected the liver, according to sources.
Her rep, Gary Mantoosh, announced the news. He wrote: “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,”.
Her final post on social media was a throwback shot of herself on the red carpet. She wrote: “I wanted to look like naughty #tinkerbell💚 #throwback ⚡️.”
Police had responded to an emergency call out at 8am to One Columbus Place. Upon arrival, they found the actress deceased.
ABC in America revealed that the star died of “natural causes”. They wrote: “Trachtenberg is believed to have died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.”
Fans had previously shared concern over he appearance on social media to which she responded: “I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters.”
