A shocking new claim about Rachel Zegler, the star of Disney’s new ‘woke’ live-action Snow White, has come out and shocked fans.
After serious backlash, the premier for the upcoming live-action “Snow White” has been scaled back.
The studio scrapped the usual over-the-top premier and decided on a quiet, laid-back pre-party with a screening of the film at the El Captain Theatre in California on March 15.
Unlike the norm, stars like Zegler, 23, and Gal Gadot, 39 will not be interviewed by media before the showing and Disney has hand picked a select amount of photographers and crew to attend the event.
The film, scheduled to hit theaters on March 21, has been swarmed in controversy due to decisions made by Disney.
Zegler received backlash from the public for being cast as Snow White, being a Latina actress. For the classic seven dwarves, the decision to replace them with “magical creatures” of all different genders and heights cause more backlash from the public.
Now, a source has revealed that Zegler is ‘out of control’ and causing issues for Disney. They added that the media company ‘doesn’t know what to do’ with their leading star after she has repeatedly spoken out about her views.
‘Disney’s lead actress is out of control,’ a source said, ‘They don’t know what to do.
‘She’s an outspoken 20-something and Disney chiefs have called her directly and asked her to tone down her posts. They’ve called her management, but she won’t listen.
‘It’s been this way the entire way through filming. But it’s the tying of her politics to Snow White that is upsetting.’
Many said the media company were being too “politically correct” and “woke”.
Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who himself has dwarfism, shared his thoughts: “Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback [when] they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,’”
“You’re progressive in one way but then you’re still making that f–king backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What the f–k are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.” he said in 2022.
Disney responded to the backlash by claiming they are taking a “different approach” to “avoid reinforcing stereotypes” from the 1937 original.
Now, Martin Klebba who also stars in the movie, has spoken out about Disney’s decision. Speaking to The Post, about the decision to use CGI for the seven dwarves instead of real people, Klebba said: “I was a little disappointed,”, “I’m not disappointed in Disney. I’m disappointed in the world.”
“We’ve come to this place in society where people work really hard on this movie, where Marc [Webb], the director, is probably four years into putting this together, [along with] the producers and Disney, and just because a couple of people have views that not everybody feels the same way, now we’re having to alter the fun part of making a movie, which is premieres.”
“So I’m a little bummed, but I understand it as well,” Klebba said. “Disney is one of the greatest production companies of all time, so you gotta be really careful in today’s world. So I see why they did it.”
“I’m just still a little bummed because I was really looking forward to doing the red carpet.”
“I just was really hoping to get to get together and walk the red carpet with these guys,” he added, referring to his castmates.
“The world has come a long way. Whether you’re woke or not woke, God doesn’t make mistakes. Just be you and accepting,” he said. “Accept everybody for who they are and the world would be a great place.”
“I wish Hollywood would be a little bit more open minded with people with disabilities,” he shared. “Whether they’re in a wheelchair or they’re shorter or whatever it might be, give everybody an opportunity.”
“Step outside the box and be open to casting someone for their abilities, not just for what they look like, even though I’m better looking than Brad Pitt,” he added with a laugh.
“When I was eight years old and I went to Disney World, I was like, ‘I’m gonna work for this company one day,’” he recalled. “Only I thought I was gonna be one of the characters that walked around the park with a big plastic head on, you know? Never did I think I was gonna become an actor and work on some of the biggest franchises of all time.”
“I love Disney. They do what they gotta do,” he added. “It’s sad that society has gotten to the point where we have to do this nowadays.”
Zegler also received backlash after suggesting this version of Snow White would not be saved by a prince: “She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true,”.
