The upcoming Harry Potter TV series will give JK Rowling a chance to ‘totally eradicate’ the memories of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint with a fresh, new cast of child actors, and fans, according to an insider.

All seven of her books will be turned into a HBO series with an all new cast. Filming will span 10 years and cost over $200 million each season.

Seeming to take aim at the three original actors who played our main characters, Rowling took to social media on 19 March.

On X, in response to @tradingMaxiSL who wrote ‘What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?’ to which Rowling responded ‘Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible’

Rowling has faced controversy in the past after sharing her views on transgender women. All three of the actors responded to her 2020 essay, where she called transgender identity ‘deeply misogynistic and regressive’ with supportive messages in favour of trans rights.

Rowling later went on to say that she could not forgive the actors, even if they had apologized publicly.

Now, a TV insider told MailOnline: ‘This is Ms Rowling’s opportunity to totally eradicate the memories of the old movies and the old cast – with new TV and movie franchises it brings in new leads, lust like with Superman and Batman’,

Potter fans had previously slammed HBO of the alleged casting for Severus Snape.

In the beloved film series, from 2001 to 2011, Snape was played by Alan Rickman.

So when it came time to cast the HBO series, fans were eager to see who would be playing the iconic and beloved character.

Reports suggest that Black Mirror actor Paapa Essiedu may be lined up to play the professor.

Fans have taken to X to share their thoughts: “Snape is described in the books as being a “thin man with greasy, shoulder-length black hair, a large hooked nose, sallow skin, and cold, black eyes.

“They haven’t even started filming this TV series and they are already deviating from the books. Personally, I am disappointed.”

Another agreed;  “Not trying to hate but the casting of this “Harry Potter tv show” is such a mess”.

While others are supportive of the Black Mirror star:  “He [Essiedu] was great on Gangs Of London. It’s not a very Snape-like role but I assume he gave a great audition and has the necessary range to pull it off.”:

One user said: “I love Paapa Essiedu.. Saw him in The Effect at the London National Theatre a year ago and he’s too good!!”

HBO has not confirmed who their cast will be and released a statement following speculation: “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation.

“As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals.”
