Eminem has launched a huge lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg for more than $100,000,000.

The 52-year-old rapper has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms (the owners of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram – owned by Zuckerberg) and is seeking damages of $109 million.

The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, claims that Meta violated the copyright of 243 of his songs through ‘unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation’ on their platforms.

The lawsuit claims that features like ‘Original Audio’ and ‘Reels’ ‘allow and encourage its users to steal’ his material ‘without proper attribution or license’.

Meta have been accused of ‘rampant infringement’ by the rapper and also ‘knowing infringement’, claiming that Meta ‘encourag[ed] billions of users of its online services to do so, all willfully, and without a license’.

The lawsuit reads: “Thus, as Meta knows, it does not enjoy and is not eligible for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act’s (“DMCA”) safe harbor provisions.”

The 52-year-old is asking for the maximum statutory damages, coming to $150k for each son, equaling a total of $109,350,000.

A jury trial has been requested as well as damages for potential lost profits and a permanent injunction against unlicensed use of his music.
