Tragic details of Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s last moments have been revealed.

“The Cosby Show” star sadly died aged 54 while relaxing in Costa Rica with his family.

Costa Rican National Police shared with media that people attempted to save him after he accidentally drowned but they were too late.

Warner was pulled from the water by good samaritans nearby.

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) has since updated the public with more details about the tragic moment: “The victim appears to have entered the sea and was apparently swept away by a current. The man was rescued by bystanders and taken to shore, where he received treatment from the Costa Rican Red Cross. However, he was declared lifeless at the scene,”.

His body was then taken to the morgue at San Joaquin de Flores to be autopsied.

The police shared on July 21 that his cause of death was likely asphyxiation by “submersion”.

Known for his role as Theodore “Theo” Huxtable on the classic show from 1984 to 1992 – his performance won him a 1986 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

According to Variety, the actor auditioned for the role on the last day of the search and was hand selected by Bill Cosby, himself.

After the series ended, he went on to voice The Producer in “The Magic School Bus” and was cast as Malcolm McGee in “Malcolm & Eddie”.

His co-star, Eddie Griffin, shared his condolences on social media after hearing the sad news: “My Heart is heavy today,” he wrote.

“For what the world lost was a Father a Son a Poet a Musician a Actor a Teacher a Writer a Director a Friend a Warrior that I had the pleasure of going to war with against the Hollywood machine and sometimes with each other because that’s what Brothers do but the Love was and is always there🙏🏾 ,”.

“You’ve taught me so much and I thank you 🙏🏾 Rest Well My Big little Brother 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾.”

RIP.
