Online marketplaces can be full of surprises. Sometimes you land a bargain, and other times you end up with something completely different from what you expected. From people accidentally ordering dollhouse furniture instead of full-sized tables, to others splashing cash on mystery boxes with no clue what’s inside, the online shopping gamble is real.

That gamble recently paid off for a pair of Tennessee-based YouTubers known as Goonzsquad, who decided to take a risk on Temu’s listings. They spent a jaw-dropping $10,000 on three electric jet boats, unsure of what would turn up. After waiting six months, three enormous wooden crates finally arrived at their workshop – and what came out of them left the pair stunned.

Using a forklift to unload the crates, the brothers watched as the compact but striking boats were revealed. As they fired them up for the first time, any doubts quickly disappeared. “Dude, this thing changed our life,” one of them shouted, beaming with excitement. “That’s the best deal ever.”

Each boat featured a proper seat, steering wheel, and could reach speeds of around 50 km/h, much faster than anyone would expect from a Temu product. Although each boat cost roughly $3,300, shipping fees and import tariffs pushed the total to $10,000. Still, the creators insist they use them every day and have no regrets.

One boat did take a knock against a rock, bending its fin slightly, but both were easy to repair. The pair even plan to customise them with LED lights for future rides.

Given that second-hand jet boats can cost around $2,000 and a brand-new Yamaha model can set you back more than $50,000, the Goonzsquad brothers reckon they got themselves a solid deal. Their Temu gamble turned out to be more than just a good buy, it became one of their favourite projects yet, proving that every now and then, an online risk really can pay off.
