A concert promoter is doing his best to fend off the un-vaccinated.

The organizer of the punk rock band Teenage Bottlerocket’s June 26th concert in St. Petersburg, Florida is charging those who have not had the covid jab a whopping $999.99 for admission.

The promoter, Paul Williams, claims that people will be put off attending the show if large numbers of the crowd have not been vaccinated against the virus.

Patrons must have had either their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or their single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine before June 6th if they wish to pay the standard $18.

Williams said: “We are NOT telling you what to do here, we are making a business decision and letting the market decide’

“If someone wants to come in un-vaccinated, they will scare off a large number of patrons and will need to pay the difference.”

Proof of vaccination will be mandatory for all attendees with an $18 ticket.

The promoter has assured people that all staff working that night and the band members will have had their jabs in time for the show.

Ray Carlisle, frontman of Teenage Bottlerocket, said he originally thought Williams was joking about the proposed ticket price.

In an interview for WMC 5 Action News, he said: “He’s doing his best to keep the audience and the band safe and the staff at the venue safe.

“And we go along with this idea.”

Carlisle explained to the band’s fanbase that this was an isolated ticket price for those who have not had the vaccine, and is not in place for the rest of their shows.

However, he mentions that there will be other methods rolled out to ensure everyone’s safety.

His announcement comes after Florida Governor, Ron Desantis, bans vaccine passports.

Any businesses who are caught forcing customers to prove that they’ve had the jab will be fined $5000.

The bill, which has been passed by the state of Florida, comes into effect on July 1st which is just days after the concert in St. Petersburg.

Carlisle has called on the band’s followers to do the right thing and get the vaccine.

“Don’t do it because Teenage Bottlerocket’s doing it or telling you to do it.

“Do it for yourself, your health, your community.”

What do you think of this promoter’s strategy? And in general, what are your thoughts on vaccine passports?
