There’s a headline I never, ever, ever thought I would write, but I guess that’s the beauty of this job – you never know what to expect.

Andy Serkis is a man of many talents, lending his unique abilities to the likes of King Kong and Ceasar from the Planet of the Apes trilogy, but like Daniel Radcliffe, he will always be remembered for one particular role: Gollum in The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit trilogy.

Countless people have tried to replicate that distinct voice – none of whom can do it quite like Serkis himself.

But now, for reasons still unknown, Andy has decided to take on an altogether different monster than he’s used to: Theresa May.

In a video titled ‘LEAKED: Footage From Inside No. 10 Downing Street!’, Serkis returned to his classic Gollum voice to troll Theresa May in the most deeply unsettling way imaginable.

Check it out below:

“Here’s the withdrawal agreement,” a civil servant whispers. Then ‘Theresa May’ turns round to reveal Andy Serkis’s face.

“Oh precious, our agreement, this is it, our deal, yessss, yesss,” he says in his Gollum voice. “We takes back control, money, borders, laws, blue passportses.”

Then in Smeagol’s voice, “No, it hurts the people, makes them poorer.”

And in Gollum’s voice, “No, I finds it, I negotiates it, we wants to do it.”

It’s probably the weirdest thing you’ll watch today, but the internet seems to be enjoying it:

Anyone think Gollum would actually do a better job of running the country than the current PM?

Me too.
